Mental Health First Aid
First Aid is the help given to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained. Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
This nationally recognised Adult Mental Health First Aid Course will be of benefit to people working in a wide range of human services roles, especially those working in community settings. This program has been shown to be effective in improving mental health literacy, reducing stigma and increasing helping behaviours. |

Course format
This is a 12 hour course run over two consecutive days. Each day will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm and there will be breaks with lunch and refreshments provided.

Cost
$275 per person for the 2 day workshop. A 10% discount is available for organisations booking in four people or more at the same time.
Presenter Profile:
Our facilitators are Matthew Smith and Mary Inskton. The facilitators are accredited Mental Health First Aid instructors.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Her work experience has been in nursing, disability and mental health. Matthew holds a degree in Social Science and social work with years of experience in drug and alcohol, disability and counselling.
Both Matthew and Mary currently work in a mulit-disciplinary health team which supports adults with spinal cord injury living in the community and in addition, work directly in supporting clients.
